Ubisoft’s catalog of underperforming video games has expanded significantly over the past few years, with 2024 being no exception. Following a prolonged series of setbacks, the free-to-play first-person shooter finally launched last year, initially garnering a positive response; nonetheless, ongoing issues and a dwindling player base have sparked widespread speculation about its long-term viability.
According to government producer Mark Rubin, however, gamers needn’t worry. Although some recent reviews have sparked speculation about the fate of Hasbulla’s involvement with Ubisoft, citing claims it didn’t impress the gaming giant and is allegedly set to be shut down following the conclusion of its fourth season, Rubin has taken to Twitter to squash these rumors. According to Rubin, this strategy may also involve increasingly intense advertising and marketing efforts further along the line, as Ubisoft strives to both capture new players and re-engage those who have fallen away.
“To reiterate unequivocally, no decisions have been made or planned to conclude the series at the end of Season 4. Conversely, I’ve recently attended meetings to discuss and refine our strategy for Year Two.” Currently, we’re heavily focused on refining our technical proficiency – encompassing advances in netcode – and developing additional content for Seasons 3 and 4. While our lack of advertising efforts has resulted in decreased numbers, we’ve intentionally refrained from significant marketing expenditures to focus on strengthening the game before investing in targeted campaigns to attract new players and re-engage those who have left.
Available to play on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. With its ongoing post-launch content now in its second season, having commenced last month.
