The acceptance by Flat2VR Studios into the SPEEDRUN accelerator marks a significant milestone, providing not only a financial boost but also a powerful seal of approval for their ambitious goal to enhance VR capabilities in non-VR video games?
Hosted by A16Z Video Games, a games-focused funding arm of Andreessen Horowitz, Speedrun is an early-stage accelerator for startups that offers $750,000 in funding, along with access to a meticulously curated network of industry coaches, mentors, and a community of accomplished founders, the VC firm asserts.
According to a publication on X, Flat2VR suggests that the accelerator should facilitate the introduction of more coveted VR experiences by opening doors to formal porting of iconic titles.

Flat2VR Studios’ co-founder Elliot Tate shares that just 30 out of a pool of approximately 4,000 applicants were selected for the accelerator program, putting the studio in esteemed company alongside renowned speedrun veterans like Oculus, Gymnasium Class VR, and Sandbox VR.
In early 2023, Impression Reality, a pioneering publisher and marketer of virtual reality (VR) experiences, launched Flat2VR Studios with the ambitious goal of collaborating with renowned developers from the VR modding community to craft officially licensed VR versions of beloved flat-screen video games.
By leveraging a collaborative approach that has its roots in the community-driven world of modding, Flat2VR Studios forges seamless partnerships with developers to bring officially sanctioned virtual reality experiences to life, instantly delivering immersive adaptations of beloved titles. Within its ranks, the studio boasts experienced VR porting experts “Cabalistic” and “Raicuparta”, renowned for their respective VR adaptations of popular games such as those mentioned.
The studio is currently working on the official virtual reality (VR) version of a yet-to-be-announced game, with plans to release it on major VR platforms by late 2024 or early 2025. We’re looking forward to exploring more about the upcoming VR Games Showcase on August 15th.
