Following Riot Games’ announcement that Valorant would finally arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, the popular multiplayer shooter kicked off a closed beta phase for console players. A recent rumor circulated suggesting that the beta would soon conclude, with the game reportedly poised to launch fully on consoles; while this hasn’t yet transpired, it is still accessible to all.
Riot Games has announced that its new title is now available in open beta on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. While previously requiring codes for console gameplay, everyone can now fly freely. While cross-play is possible among console platforms, a distinction remains in that players on PC and console devices cannot engage in cooperative or competitive gameplay together.
The open beta’s duration on consoles remains to be determined, but when it debuted for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in June, Riot hinted that a full console release would follow sometime in 2024, suggesting we’ll have a clearer picture of the timeline before long. Stay tuned for further updates until that time arrives.
