Developing a successful environment-shooter in virtual reality presents numerous challenges, as countless VR developers will concur. Developing substantial weight is vital for preserving the free-flowing, spontaneous nature of gameplay in a VR-native experience, requiring innovative mechanics that seamlessly integrate with the immersive environment. Close to Mild, a studio owned by nDreams, has announced its plans to tackle the challenge.
Developed by Close to Mild, in collaboration with nDreams. Frenzies Fusing the studio’s expertise in gunplay from Call of Duty and Titanfall, gamers are thrust into five-round matches that guarantee a thrilling “chaotic lucky dip” of iconic and unconventional combat.
This game features both solo and team-based modes, similar to the popular ‘Pink Light, Green Light’ concept, alongside an intriguing mode known as ‘Glitter Pig’.
“Not even a hint of dullness can be levelled at our work,” asserts Paul Mottram, head of Close to Mild studios, with conviction that brooks no argument. Drawing on the timeless appeal of Quake and Unreal Tournament, our objective was to recapture the thrill of unpredictability while preserving the essence that defines VR shooters.
