Two new video games heavily inspired by the Halloween franchise were unveiled yesterday, with one of them, a charming pixel art platformer, having already made its debut.
Boss Crew Games, a renowned recreation developer, has announced the creation of two Halloween-based video games, one of which is being built using the cutting-edge Unreal Engine 5 technology, further solidifying its commitment to delivering high-quality gaming experiences, with the added bonus of collaborating with the iconic film’s director John Carpenter. While still shrouded in mystery, the game with more details stands out, but for now, let’s focus on the newly revealed sequel at IGN – a nostalgic 16-bit, ’90s-era arcade platformer that promises to transport us back to a bygone era of gaming thrills. In RetroRealms: Halloween, players take on the iconic role of Michael Myers, navigating a world where they must slash their way through unsuspecting victims using his infamous knife.

The long-awaited sequel to the original Boss Crew games has finally been revealed, with RetroRealms safeguarding another title under their banner – a new 16-bit pixel art platformer, cleverly reimagining the notorious Evil Dead franchise. As Ash Williams once again wields his trusty chainsaw-hand, battling hordes of the undead and otherworldly terrors – it’s essentially a rehashing of familiar tropes, albeit set against novel backdrops with Michael Myers and Ash adapting their respective approaches. Given the involvement of WayForward, a renowned studio behind the Shantae series, there’s reason to believe this game will be in capable hands.
Consider purchasing each recreation separately at $24.99 per title, or opt for the Double Function bundle, now available for $49.99. While purchasing the bundle might add a penny to your cost, it offers the unique opportunity to experience each game’s characters firsthand. By pre-ordering certain video games, you’ll gain access to unique bonus content: Laurie Strode from Halloween and Kelly Maxwell from Ash vs Evil Dead will become playable DLC characters, allowing you to experience their distinctive playstyles in the game.
“Boss Crew Video Games’ Chief Executive Officer Steve Harris declared that the entire team shares an intense passion for horror, making it an absolute thrill to collaborate with such iconic franchises.” Collaborating with WayForward and our licensors has been an unparalleled experience, yielding not one but two action-packed, nostalgia-tinged 90’s-style video games that stay remarkably faithful to the original Halloween film and Ash vs Evil Dead franchise. As the trailer drops, eager fans are treated to a glimpse into the graphic gameplay and breakneck speed, and rest assured, we won’t hesitate to highlight every thrilling detail!
The upcoming titles are slated to release on October 18, available across PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox platforms.
