With CD Projekt RED’s reputation for creating vast, meticulously crafted open worlds, it comes as no surprise that they’re sticking to their winning formula with their next game, which has officially transitioned into full production. While in reality, one can expect a forthcoming game to surpass its predecessor’s title in grandeur and impact, promising an even more substantial and awe-inspiring gaming experience.
During a recent interview with Eurogamer, CD Projekt RED’s vice chairman of expertise Charles Tremblay elaborated on the same topic, stating that the studio’s current tech infrastructure – now utilizing Unreal Engine 5 as its primary development toolset – will enable it to create its next project “bigger, better, and more ambitious” than its previous ones. As studios typically do, they aim to avoid a repeat of the catastrophic launch that occurred previously?
“Tremblay notes that while the process isn’t entirely straightforward, he’s optimistic about the progress made, citing ‘cool’ advancements that could effectively demonstrate the technology’s potential.” While a single technology shift may not diminish our strength, the reality remains that our power remains unwavering. The subsequent creation we undertake will not diminish in scale nor deteriorate in quality. It’s unlikely to be significantly greater, so we cannot tolerate such a considerable increase. We don’t need to return.
Despite potential ‘sweaty moments’ and precarious situations, I am convinced that we will strive to surpass our past achievements by tackling everything head-on. So the lack of expertise should not hinder our progress primarily.
As the world of video games evolved, it’s clear that CD Projekt RED excelled at creating expansive, intricately designed environments that could keep players engaged for countless hours, even without considering the additional content offered through expansions. It’s no surprise that the studio plans to address a subsequent challenge, given their established modus operandi.
It may take some time, however, before we have the opportunity to learn more about. Though CD Projekt Red may occasionally release subtle hints, don’t expect a comprehensive reveal until about two years prior to its launch date.
