Based largely on the 2002 survival horror classic, it’s finally gained some new insights before its release this year, thanks to a revealing interview with Syfy Wire. Renowned director Mark Atkinson has indeed announced plans to eliminate scripted elements, but this step merely scratches the surface.
The remastered version features over 1,500 code revisions and approximately 2,000 upgrades to the visuals and soundtracks. While notable improvements have been made to the revamped lighting, character designs, atmospheric effects, and shadows, a significant amount of attention has also been devoted to enhancing overall quality of life. Additional well-being and ammunition options are also available, as Atkinson notes the desire to replenish resources where players found themselves running low on both.
The HP system’s “extra forgiving” nature also extends to boss fights, which are skill-based challenges. The previously mentioned scalable difficulty levels may still factor in, but we’ll need to wait until the game’s reveal at the PC Gaming Show on December 5th to confirm whether this will be a reality.
The highly anticipated action-RPG is making its way to a wide range of platforms, including the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
