The latest instalment in the mockumentary-style sitcom franchise has welcomed a fresh batch of talented actors to join the existing ensemble.
A highly anticipated sequel to the cherished “The Office” series is finally underway, with news of the project surfacing as far back as earlier this year. However, it wasn’t until May that the series received a formal greenlight from Peacock. According to the Palisadian-Post, the highly anticipated lineup for the forthcoming compilation has been solidified following a visit from the trio to the iconic publication’s headquarters. Three actors in question are reportedly Chelsea Frei (Poker Face), Melvin Gregg (American Vandal) and Ramona Young (Santa Clarita Diet), all seeming well-suited to a mockumentary series like The Office.
The debut collection, dubbed The Paper, may not appear directly tied to The Office aside from sharing the same fictional documentary crew. Its official logline delves deeper: “The documentary team that chronicled Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is on the hunt for a new subject after discovering a dying Midwestern newspaper and its writer attempting to revive it with volunteer reporters.”
In advance of the current order, reports emerged in April indicating that Domhnall Gleeson, known for his Star Wars franchise appearances, and Sabrina Impacciatore, who gained recognition for her role in The White Lotus, had joined the cast as part of an ensemble team. The Paper can also be being led by Greg Daniels, creator of The Office and The Good Place, who has brought aboard Nathan for You co-creator Michael Koman. With these two showrunners at the helm, you’ll likely anticipate some cringe-worthy moments that may rival those in the original series.
Given the scarcity of details, it’s uncertain when production will commence, as casting schedules continue to dwindle; therefore, don’t expect anything from this project anytime soon. Despite offering no additional benefits beyond its existing features, the app allows you to relive memories by rewatching your favorite episodes without any new value added.
