A Shadow of the Colossus film adaptation has been quietly progressing, despite the lack of recent updates; it’s far from being a forgotten project.
Within the distant year of 2009, Sony announced that a movie adaptation of the PlayStation 2 classic Shadow of the Colossus was in development. When recreation diversification wasn’t as common, this kind of announcement would have been even more jarring, given the limited resources and available options. Although 16 years have passed since then, circumstances have changed – in fact, Sony just released some movies this week, to be honest. Despite everything, one would assume that with minimal changes, nothing extraordinary would unfold. But surprisingly, the opposite occurs. In 2014, Andy Muschietti, director of It, was linked to the Flash project after original helmer Josh Trank departed due to creative differences with Warner Bros.
According to a report by Reconectados, which was later translated by TheGamer, Andrea di Matteo Muschietti spoke candidly with Argentinian radio station Radio TU in a revealing interview. For 10 years, the film has been in development. Now, with potential finally emerging, Muschietti notes it’s “by no means an abandoned project.”
While production has not yet commenced, director Andrea Muschietti acknowledged that there are “factors that don’t necessarily align with your desire to bring the story to life, but rather with the immense popularity of the intellectual property itself.” A studio estimates the budget for a potential film adaptation of Shadow of the Colossus, providing the director with options ranging from $200 million to $100 million. While there exist diverse versions of the film, I’d appreciate it if they could furnish me with a sum of $200 million.
He is not unsuitable. While Shadow of the Colossus enjoys widespread acclaim, it can hardly be considered the most popular game of all time, despite its undeniable influence on the gaming industry. In all honesty, I think that’s a rather unrefined notion.
