Despite being the first-ever open-world game from a prominent developer and publisher, expectations for robust sales were not entirely met at launch. According to recent reports, the game’s physical launch sales in the UK plummeted by a staggering 55% compared to EA and Respawn Entertainment’s performance last year, with more data emerging that paints an unflattering picture of its initial sales in the region?
According to Christopher Dring of GamesIndustry on Twitter, despite combining bodily and digital sales, revenue seems lower than expected, with the game having sold roughly half as much as Ubisoft’s own smaller-scale title at its UK launch last year.
Apparently, the game has fared significantly better than its predecessor, Large Leisure’s last release, which debuted in December and did not meet expectations. According to Dring, his sales have more than doubled those of, despite having “loads of alternatives” to generate additional revenue in the latter months of the year.
