Marvel’s head of streaming has provided insight into what audiences can expect from the upcoming series, which has been in development for a relatively brief period.

In Guardians of the Galaxy, released a decade ago, the Nova Corps received significant screen time, yet the film only hinted at Nova’s superhero identity, leaving fans eager for more. In July, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige confirmed that Nova is in active development, although it remains three to four years away. More recently, speaking with Section Zero’s Brandon Davis, Marvel’s head of streaming, TV, and animation, Brad Winderbaum, offered additional insights into the series.
“Currently, Nova is experiencing significant growth, but our output exceeds our input.” The film’s title, “That Is the Brand New Marvel,” seems to cleverly mock the studio’s efforts to pace themselves after an onslaught of releases. Shouldn’t we always discuss this? At Marvel, every detail receives meticulous attention to highlight its unique features.
“We’re passionate about Nova; we want to get it just right,” he explained. “He elaborated that various elements and some differing issues are in development, but Marvel won’t move forward with a show until they’re proud of the pilot script and the overall concept.”

Winderbaum elaborated on the types of issues driving the collection, remarking, “In terms of exploring cosmic tales on Disney+, I’ve been genuinely impressed by Star Trek’s recent endeavors… Specifically, the development of Nova, a fantastic ensemble piece.” Despite being sparing with words, the comparison still shines bright, likening the scenario to a magnificent blend of Star Trek’s and Battlestar Galactica’s most iconic moments.
While Winderbaum’s vision is still several years off, his foundation appears to be laid with potential for growth.
For those unfamiliar with Nova, the series purportedly follows Richard Rider, the present’s unique incarnation as a high school student gifted with cosmic powers by a dying member of the Nova Corps, as he travels across the galaxy, battling various villains and upholding justice. The uncertainty surrounding the future is palpable; only time will reveal whether our current situation remains unchanged or if a transformation takes place.
