It appears that The Witcher’s Season 4 might bring in some fresh talent, as the actor playing Vesemir is said to have been replaced.
For two years, we’ve acknowledged that upon The Witcher season four’s eventual release, likely sometime next year, Henry Cavill will no longer don the role of Geralt of Rivia, but rather be succeeded by Liam Hemsworth. The reception to Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt of Rivia didn’t quite resonate with fans, who overwhelmingly praised his performance as the iconic Witcher.
Since then, casting has largely remained consistent, with some fresh talent joining the cast as new characters are introduced for the upcoming season. However, according to Redanian Intelligence, a notable exception exists: Geralt’s mentor Vesemir has been recast.
It’s been reported by outlets that Vesemir is likely to reappear as a character in Season 4, despite the departure of original portrayer Kim Bodnia from the role. It remains unclear why this recasting has occurred, and as yet, there’s no formal announcement – Redanian Intelligence is similarly uncertain about who will fill the role, so we’ll just have to wait for confirmation from Netflix or the release of a trailer that reveals the new actor.
While the fate of The Witcher 4’s development and release date remains uncertain, we won’t have long to wait before revisiting Geralt again. A brand-new clip for the highly-anticipated animated movie, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, premiered last month, accompanied by confirmation of a delay as well as a specific release date – February 11, 2025. As the release date approaches rapidly, it’s reassuring to know that we won’t have to wait indefinitely for The Witcher 4, considering its uncertain timeline in the future.
