Unfortunately, there’s no scope for additional content from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, as BioWare doesn’t have any planned DLCs for its latest RPG.
As Dragon Age: Inquisition approaches its tenth anniversary this month, many may forget that upon its initial launch a decade ago, it was more of a foundation rather than a fully realized experience. Important story DLC arrived later, crucial for fully grasping the game’s narrative, notes Corrine Busche, director of The Veilguard, who ensured the sequel was a self-contained package. While she once hinted “never say never” regarding potential DLC, artistic director John Epler recently confirmed to Rolling Stone that no such expansions are currently planned.
It’s reassuring news for fans who appreciate the ability to play through a game without additional purchases, as they’ll finally get to experience the full story without needing DLC. While some may be initially disappointed that there aren’t more surprises in store, the sheer amount of content already available should provide ample entertainment. As a silver lining, this development bodes well for both BioWare enthusiasts at large and Mass Effect fans specifically, as Epler confirmed that attention has fully pivoted to the next installment in the sci-fi series, regardless of what it ultimately comes to be called.
While details about Mass Effect 5 are scarce, only a few vague hints have emerged, and given BioWare’s focus on the upcoming sequel, it seems unlikely to arrive anytime soon? While it’s November 7th in seven days’ time – N7 Day, as fans call it – a date often marked by significant Mass Effect announcements; considering The Veilguard has only just released, I’m hesitant to anticipate any major news.
