Seems likely that the game will feature a mysterious, hitherto unannounced fourth playable character. According to the official Japanese website of the sport, a cryptic hint has been posted that may suggest a forthcoming announcement.
The website highlights playable characters from both Sonic’s and Shadow’s campaigns in the forthcoming expanded remastered version.
The previous options include Sonic and Basic Sonic. The latter currently only offers Shadow, accompanied by a clean panel beside his character portrait featuring the phrase “coming soon…” (see screencap below).
The rumoured whispers among fans hint at an exciting development: we can expect to control yet another incarnation of Shadow the Hedgehog, this time exploring his side of the narrative in the forthcoming platformer. Why limit yourself to a basic model when you could create something truly innovative and revolutionary in the vein of Sonic’s bold and daring approach?
The reveal of this thriller character’s identity remains uncertain in terms of timeline, but it’s reasonable to expect Sega will share that information before the game’s release, considering the hints have already appeared on their official website.
Launches globally for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 25.
