More than a decade since its initial release, the iconic game is set to make an unexpected comeback with its highly anticipated remastered edition, and while such a revival would have been unthinkable just a short time ago, developer Grasshopper Manufacture is optimistic that the upcoming remake could potentially lay the groundwork for a long-awaited sequel – pending a certain level of success, that is.
In a recent interview with Gematsu, when queried about potential new instalments following the release of its upcoming remaster, Grasshopper Manufacture founder Goichi Suda (aka Suda51) mentioned that if the remaster performs well enough and receives a positive reception, the studio may consider exploring the idea of a sequel.
“If the remastered version performs well and demonstrates genuine demand, we’ll definitely consider exploring further sequels,” said Suda.
With the revelation that the once- redundant intellectual property has recently gained traction, fans are eager to seize any opportunity for a sequel, no matter how slim the chances may seem. To leave a lasting impression, the remastered version would need to create a substantial impact.
Due to hit shelves on Halloween night, the highly anticipated game is set to release on October 31st for a diverse range of platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
