The upcoming open-world horror shooter’s performance specifications for Xbox Series S have remained unclear, leaving gamers wondering if it will scale back its ambitions to accommodate the console’s less powerful hardware. Will it maintain a consistent 30 FPS or offer a dynamic 60 FPS option? Only time will tell. Although we’re still unsure about the final price tag for the console version’s full package, Slava Lukyanenka, lead producer at GSC Game World, has provided a glimpse into what gamers can expect.
In a recent interview with Wccftech, Lukyanenka reiterated that the upcoming game may feature two performance modes on Xbox Series X: 30 FPS and 60 FPS, although specific target frame rates for each mode remain unconfirmed. The conversation also touched on the Xbox Series S model, with Lukyanenko confirming that it currently runs at approximately 35 FPS. According to Lukyanenko, however, this figure is not necessarily definitive, as GSC Game World continues to collaborate with Microsoft to further refine and optimize the game’s performance.
“On Xbox Series X, players now have access to two exciting new modes,” Lukyanenka said. Considered among these options is Efficiency Mode, which operates at 60 frames per second and features graphics similar to those found in High-quality Mode – a significant improvement over its 30 FPS counterpart, despite lacking the latter’s high-definition textures and reflections. We aim to achieve the same level of proficiency with Xbox Series S by integrating both strategies seamlessly. Currently, we’re achieving a frame rate of approximately 35 frames per second on the Xbox Series S console, leaving room for further optimisation.
Due to its release on November 20, the game will be available on both Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms.
