Rumors have long swirled around the potential revival of the classic game franchise, but today, Capcom put speculation to rest by officially announcing the project’s development.
During Capcom’s recent summer showcase, Koshi Nakanishi, director of the series, announced that a new mainline game is in development, with him at the helm once again. According to Nakanishi, director and driving force behind the game’s development, while details remain under wraps for now, the next installment in the series is poised to be a substantial addition.
“We’re creating a groundbreaking new,” Nakanishi declared. While the discovery felt significant? I’m eager to learn what’s in store, whenever that may be.
Dubbed by some as its working title, this ambitious project has reportedly been in development since 2018, with a projected growth cycle and funding pool that will surpass any other sport-related initiative to date, according to academic research. The game reportedly makes use of RE Engine’s new open-world technology, which was unveiled with the dot.
The latest reports suggest that the highly anticipated was affected by internal delays, and developers are now focused on a potential release window of late 2025 or early 2026. Capcom is reportedly working on remakes of Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry 5, while rumors surrounding potential remakes of Street Fighter 2 and Mega Man are currently unfounded.
