After a prolonged period of anticipation, the wait for Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 7 appears to be finally drawing to a close, with the update set to arrive next week.
FOLLOWERS HAVE BEEN WAITING PATIENTLY FOR THE RELEASE OF PATCH 7 FOR SOME TIME NOW, AND DURING A RECENT PAX WEST PANEL FEATURING LAIRAN’S HEAD, SWEN VINCKE, THE DEVELOPER CONFIRMED THAT THE MUCH-ANTICIPATED UPDATE IS SCHEDULED TO DROP SOMETIME NEXT WEEK. While an exact date hasn’t been finalized, remain vigilant and stay alert as it approaches. Notably, the forthcoming patch will initially be available exclusively for PC users, with the official Baldur’s Gate 3 Twitter account clarifying that the sheer scope of updates and new options necessitates a slightly longer wait for console and Mac platforms – though rest assured, gamers will soon be vanquishing foes and customizing their experiences with ease.
The latest update brings the often-requested mod tools, making it significantly easier for modders to create their own recipes, spells, and similar content. Console gamers are often shut out from the world of mods, but that’s changing as Bethesda and now Larian enable mod support on their console titles, including both Mac and console versions of the game.
As previously hinted at by Larian, this update will introduce revised evil endings that venture further into the darkness than their current counterparts in the game. As gamers are well aware, attempting to complete the “bad” or evil path in video games rarely happens, largely because it often seems perilous and uncertain. Therefore, we may never get to experience these alternative conclusions.
While it’s hard to imagine surpassing the initial excitement of Baldur’s Gate 3, there is certainly room for continued improvement and refinement in future updates. As the studio continues to evolve, Larian has started working on several new RPGs, with no intentions of developing a Baldur’s Gate 4; therefore, it is essential to fully appreciate and cherish this update.
