Tomorrow marks the 30th anniversary of Sony’s pioneering PlayStation console, with a special update arriving for PS5 owners as a nostalgic treat. The boot-up screen bears a striking resemblance to the iconic PlayStation logo, complete with the erstwhile Sony Laptop Leisure icon, later rebranded as Sony Interactive Entertainment and then PlayStation Studios.
However that’s not all. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, navigate to the Settings menu, then select “PlayStation 30th Anniversary” to customize the appearance and audio of your Home screen, transforming it into a nostalgic tribute to classic consoles.
The sounds emitted by PlayStation One, PS2, PS3, and PS4 consoles are perfectly replicated as you navigate through the menu screens, providing an immersive experience.
Alas, this limited-time availability makes this selection all the more precious, so savour it while you can. As part of PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, we might also see the release of some remastered titles for both PS4 and PS5. This free trial offers a selection of vehicles and scenarios for you to explore. Stay vigilant for a potential surprise release in the near future.
