Rumours surrounding a PS5 Professional have dominated headlines for several months, and despite Sony’s silence on the topic, the mid-gen console refresh appears increasingly imminent, with developers privy to the details dubbing it “an open secret” at last week’s Gamescom event.
According to a report from Wccftech, a developer reportedly shared information with the outlet claiming to have acquired the PS5 Pro’s specifications, stating that the console would excel at running Unreal Engine 5-powered games more effectively than the current PS5 model. According to the report, the studio in question is not a behemoth, leaving unclear whether this implies smaller or mid-sized developers had advance information on PS5 Pro details from Sony, rather than just the largest ones.
Because an Italian outlet, Multiplayer, reported on their livestream that a developer at Gamescom revealed the company had postponed its upcoming game to synchronize its release with the PlayStation 5 Pro’s debut.
Reports suggest that the PS5 Pro will launch later this year, with a supposed September reveal. Keep tuned for extra updates.
