The universe recently ventured into single-player territory with the Supermassive-developed title; however, plans for a subsequent multiplayer experience appear to have been scrapped unexpectedly.
In the past year, Behaviour Interactive announced that Midwinter Leisure, a studio it had previously acquired, was working on a new PvE co-op shooter spinoff set in the universe. This was followed by the game’s official reveal earlier this year and the launch of an insider’s playtest program.
Just months after the fact, despite this, the developer announced that, following feedback gathered during playtesting and a rigorous internal risk assessment from both commercial and product perspectives, they have chosen to abandon the project altogether.
After rephrasing the text in a different style as a professional editor, I present:
The developer announced on Twitter that the idea of involving gamers at the earliest possible stage drove the creation of the Insiders Program, which aimed to secure their involvement from the very beginning. Our approach has enabled us to secure timely feedback on the fundamental design and gameplay mechanics, a crucial milestone often achieved later in the game development process. After conducting the playtest in July, our team performed a rigorous internal threat assessment from both product and industrial viewpoints. While many gamers appreciated their efforts, unfortunately, the culmination of this rigorous assessment resulted in disappointing overall conclusions.
It’s with a deep sense of regret that we’re announcing the cancellation of this event. We extend our sincerest gratitude for your invaluable support throughout this entire process.
