Despite his impressive track record, Channing Tatum recognizes the need for a standout project to reinvigorate his career, and he’s eager to take on a critically acclaimed role that will propel him back into the spotlight.
Channing Tatum, the star of Magic Mike and 21 Jump Street, has been persistent in his efforts to bring the X-Men character Gambit to life on the big screen for several years now. Despite being a beloved X-Men character, Channing Tatum’s affection for Gambit remains unrealized on screen. Until recently, to some extent, though. Whereas he is not fairly managed a solo outing simply but, he did function fairly prominently within the MCU’s newest outing, Deadpool & Wolverine, as Gambit himself. Tatum joined forces with familiar faces – Jennifer Garner reprising her role as Elektra and Wesley Snipes once again donning his Blade persona – but it was the first time he’d embodied his character, marking a new milestone in his acting career.
Since a recent glance at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon suggests that Tatum has discussed the measures he’d take to bring a standalone Gambit film into existence. “We were close to making the film when Fox was acquired by Disney,” Tatum explained about the Gambit movie that almost happened before the acquisition. Despite this, he went on to reveal that Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige has long been an ardent admirer of Gambit, yet struggled to find a way to effectively integrate the character into the cinematic universe. According to reports, he candidly expressed his admiration for Gambit. I’m struggling to find a way to do this correctly at present. Can you clarify how Gambit fits into our current plans? I’ll just take a moment to figure this out.
Although there’s no confirmation of a Gambit film, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige reportedly prioritizes an X-Men movie before making one happen; however, Channing Tatum hints at “cracking some kind of code”. Hopefully. Would I sacrifice my firstborn child… would I commit unspeakable atrocities to see a Gambit film come into being? Don’t even think about broaching the topic of Gambit with Tatum, it seems.
Deadpool & Wolverine is doing very nicely for itself, having hit $1 billion on the world field workplace over the weekend, which I am certain Feige and different executives are fairly pleased about given the MCU’s latest misses.
