When it acquired its first batch of free content last year, developer Ironwood Studios hinted that further updates might follow in the fall and winter. The previous ones are now right here. Titled “Drive Your Means”, this update introduces several new features, including customizable gameplay presets and enhanced personalization options.
The introduction of brand-new presets is arguably the most significant innovation. The game now features six customizable gameplay presets, including the intense “Iron Wagon” option, which introduces permanent death and heightened challenges. In contrast, the “Scenic Tour” setting offers a more relaxed experience with reduced danger from driving hazards, minimal crafting requirements, and no threat of permadeath. Joyride is a more relaxed mode that reduces penalties and challenges, yet preserves the core gameplay experience unchanged.
Nuclear Journey enhances maps with increased loose dose radiation, amplifying the harmful effects of storms; Mechanic’s Street Journey introduces terrain-based driving mechanics, where car condition affects performance, and repairs cost more, while crafting is restricted throughout runs; and Olympic Gauntlet lives up to its name as a challenging mode that cranks up every aspect to extreme levels.
Alongside its release, the Drive Your Means update introduces a range of new gameplay customization options, alongside several fresh, free cosmetic additions. Ironwood Studios has recently introduced a premium customization bundle, dubbed the Anomalous Customization Pack, for players willing to pay extra for exclusive cosmetic items. Priced at $4.99, this package offers six innovative beauty products.
Available on both PlayStation 5 and PC.
