As numerous online game adaptations continue to emerge, it appears that Outlast is next in line to make the jump from screens to screens.
I’m fairly certain that a minimum of once a week there’s an announcement about a video game being adapted into a film. This week, Bloody Disgusting reported earlier today that an adaptation of the survival horror franchise Outlast is in the works, already boasting some robust talent behind it. The horror film Outlast comes from Lionsgate, notable for its production of the successful Saw franchise, making it a fitting match. The film’s production credits Roy Lee, an experienced producer with a distinguished roster of horror films to his name, including the 2017 remake of It, Quarantine, Barbarian, and numerous other titles in which he served as executive producer, such as the Ring and Grudge remakes.
Penning the movie is J.T. The creator behind the Outlaws trilogy – Lawrence Holland, who penned the scripts for Outlaws (1981), Outlaws: The Beginning (1997) and Outlaws 2 (2000). Petty announced that Crimson Barrels, a seasoned game developer, has been pioneering the horror genre in video games for over a decade. The opportunity to expand the Outlast Universe into film offers an exciting chance to delve deeper into the complex characters and terrifying killers that fans have come to adore.
Lee asserted that Outlast’s release in 2012 revolutionized the horror gaming landscape, establishing a benchmark for immersive storytelling. The franchise’s rich, complex mythology provides a fertile ground for exploring the darkest aspects of human psychology and physical terror in a cinematic adaptation. Here’s an improved version:
Lee has a stellar track record, making his distinctive world an attractive prospect for both new viewers and loyal fans of the collection.
Unfortunately, details about this film are scarce, as it seems to be a relatively unknown or old release; unfortunately, there’s little else to report.
