Hongxing2020 claimed that the RTX 5090 boasts a whopping 575W TDP, while kopite7kimi revealed that the RTX 5080 will come with a relatively modest 360W TDP.
The power consumption for the RTX 5090 has jumped significantly, representing a 125W increase compared to its predecessor, the RTX 4090, which boasted a substantial 450W TDP. According to reports from Kopite7kimi, a prominent leaker, NVIDIA’s upcoming GeForce RTX 5090 is expected to draw slightly less power than initially speculated, with an estimated power consumption of around 575W, matching recent rumors and energy efficiency scores. While high power ratings do not necessarily guarantee enhanced performance, it is fair to conclude that Nvidia’s latest graphics processing units will not be underserved in terms of power supply.
As for the RTX 3080, a modest 40W increase in its 360W TDP potentially offers improved power efficiency compared to the RTX 4080’s 320W TDP. Despite these differences, the new product still offers a substantial power reduction of 40W compared to the expected 400W score of the previous model, making it more accessible and cost-effective for users without requiring an upgrade to a higher-wattage power supply.
