Despite the lengthy notes accompanying Helldivers 2’s latest patch, several alterations have gone unnoticed, driven by various factors, it seems.
As the studio gradually unveils hints about upcoming weapon and tool tweaks aligning with Patch 1.001.100, players on the game’s Discord server have been inquiring about modifications they believe they’ve detected following the latest patch deployment that haven’t been discussed or clarified by Arrowhead. Properly, till now.
“Noting the persistent inquiry into unannounced modifications or ‘stealth’ nerfs in our recent patch, my colleague and I conducted a thorough investigation to gather additional insights on this topic,” wrote Twinbeard, neighborhood supervisor at Arrowhead, in a latest announcement post. “The following sections were written by the game’s developers.”
Since the original patch has undergone numerous modifications, it’s reasonable to expect a corresponding increase in the risk of both successful and unsuccessful hits. Some issues were inadvertently omitted from our patch notes, while others were intentionally left out but poorly communicated; concurrently, a couple of problems have been unwittingly altered. Additionally, all aspects of the sport remain dynamic and subject to change, never rigidly defined. Let’s discuss these further? All suggestions is vastly appreciated!”
Twinbeard subsequently outlined a list of modifications, accompanied by commentary on the developers’ intent behind each modification and whether or not it had been incorporated into the Patch 1.001.100 notes.
- Heavy machine gun angle and sturdy injury nerf from 50 to a reduced 35 damage output. While this change was deliberate, it didn’t conform to the announced patch notes.
- The Railgun AP bonus is now further removed from overcharging, no longer increasing to AP7 at a staggering 90% cost. “This change was deliberate; unfortunately, we neglected to include it in our patch notes.” The aim was to prevent the Railgun from being overly effective against tanks and Manufacturing facility Striders. Notwithstanding the modifications made to tank front armour, there was no disruption to its functionality as a result. However, since we didn’t require the Railgun to ricochet off entrance armor in the first place, it’s possible that we should give this approach a try.
- The damage caused by anti-tank mines has been significantly reduced, with injuries plummeting from 1,000 to 800 per incident. The explosive radius has expanded to encompass a larger area, and the stagger drive has accelerated by 20 units, reaching an unprecedented 50. Meanwhile, the demolition force has been boosted by 10%, now standing at an impressive 40. “This key information, though intended to be included, surprisingly failed to appear in the patch notes.”
- Despite assurances in the patch notes, Laser Cannon remains unresponsive to soothing words, its fervent energy unchecked and unaffected by attempts at calming influence. Initially, we incorporated this feature, but subsequently removed it without properly acknowledging the change in the patch notes.
- Canine guard units detect and respond to threats more efficiently around fireplaces. “Additionally meant.”
- Hearth dot injury sturdy injury elevated 25 -> 50. Indeed, it appears to be a deliberate omission, unmentioned in the patch notes. This needs clarification: We’ll review this carefully before deciding whether it should remain unchanged. While it boosted the Incendiary Breaker and Cookout to respectable levels, these two prized weapons certainly garnered admiration.
- The damage to the Hellpod’s impression injury range is significantly increased from 200 to 2,500; however, this alteration will not impact the Firebomb Hellpods. “The design choice is deliberate, aligning with our injury scaling approach discussed in the patch notes.” To clarify our intention, we sought to maintain Hellpod’s damage output consistent by compensating for the increased health of powerful foes.
Lastly, the submission concludes with a phrase that reads: “For the Hearth and Hellpod, we regret missing out on the growth opportunity that was there.”
