Nintendo announced that Switch lifetime sales had reached 146.04 million units in its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2025, ending September 30, 2024. During this period, the company reported a significant increase in console sales, with 2.62 million units sold, representing a substantial rise from the 143.42 million consoles sold during the preceding quarter.
Despite celebrating a remarkable achievement, the company’s hardware revenue has taken a significant hit, declining by 31% compared to the same period last year. Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite sales surge by 0.7% and 7.5%, respectively. Despite this, gross sales of the Swap (OLED) have plummeted by 46.8 percent. During the quarter, software program sales totalled 39.64 million units, with a year-to-date decline of 27.6% compared to the same period last year.
Nintendo has revised its fiscal year forecast, predicting that the Switch will sell 12.5 million units and generate 160 million units of software, a reduction of 1 million hardware units and 5 million software units from previous estimates. As the Nintendo Switch’s successor is already in development, a reveal date is set for sometime before March 31st, 2025.
