Nintendo is skipping its traditional September Direct and instead presenting two simultaneous live streams tomorrow, offering a multifaceted presentation.
Twice a year, Nintendo fans can rely on a Nintendo Direct broadcast: in June, during the non-E3 season, and in September, when financial reports are typically due. Despite the potential motives behind the September event, one thing is certain – it usually occurs annually. Despite the unusual frequency of recent announcements from Nintendo, the company is shaking things up again, revealing today that tomorrow, August 27, will see a unique double feature: not one, but two consecutive Nintendo Direct presentations. The Indie World presentation kicks off at 7:00 AM Pacific Time/10:00 AM Eastern Time/3:00 PM British Summer Time, spotlighting a diverse array of independent video games. Unfortunately, there’s no new Mario game in the offing here.
Following the showcase, an Associate Event will be held, featuring select third-party developer presentations; therefore, attendees should not expect any updates regarding the highly anticipated titles such as Zelda: Echoes of Knowledge or Metroid Prime 4. The two videos combined will run approximately 40 minutes in total. Despite rumors and speculation surrounding its potential release, it remains unclear whether a Nintendo Switch 2 will ever materialize. The reply? Nope! Nintendo’s subsequent assertion hints at the potential lack of a Nintendo Switch successor reveal during either show, suggesting that incessantly asking “Switch 2?” in live chats may warrant a reevaluation of one’s priorities.
Something that might seem to exist in common between those two shows is? While the possibility of a sequel like Silksong is tantalizing, it’s reasonable to speculate that a launch date announcement might await a more significant event than a routine August livestream, one that would generate greater excitement and attention for the game.
Nintendo’s official YouTube channel and Twitch account are where you’ll catch the latest shows.
