With minimal fanfare, the Quest remake has unexpectedly surged in popularity over the past few months, its adorable feline escapades going viral on social media platforms. We contacted New Folder Video Games to learn more about their formula for success.
Developed by New Folder Video Games, this Quest game has achieved significant success despite still being in Early Access (formerly known as ‘App Lab’). The sport’s rapid ascension is largely attributed to a potent viral force, fueled by its innovative and humorously engaging role-play gameplay. As a testament to the surging popularity of virtual reality gaming, The Sport represents another significant milestone in the evolution of immersive experiences enabled by arm-based locomotion.
Isn’t this the studio’s sole profit-making endeavor? Two distinct notable video games, released within mere months of each other, have simultaneously found strong traction and garnered high praise.
The application (additionally in Early Entry) flaunts an impressive 12,000 critiques and a stellar 4.8-out-of-5-star rating, standing tall compared to its counterpart which boasts a respectable 5,000 critiques and a matching 4.8-star evaluation.
The simultaneous success of three Quest games, with one extremely profitable and two moderately successful ones, provides compelling evidence that the studio has developed a deep understanding of its customers’ desires and can replicate this strategy to deliver more hits.
Despite requiring numerous trials, it was finally achieved. New Folder Games’ hallmark thus far has been its remarkable capacity for swift experimentation.
The studio has successfully released nine Quest video games over the past year, with these three titles being just a few examples…
Many of the video games developed by this studio feature unconventional premises that defy expectations about what virtual reality gamers typically seek out, often prioritizing unique storytelling and gameplay over traditional VR experiences. Notwithstanding its apparent uniqueness – one of a few instances where players engage with game narratives from an explicitly non-human viewpoint – it is this particular concept that has resonated the most. As gaming enthusiasts are well-versed in observing feline behavior, they’re also drawn to the prospect of exploring and collaborating within a virtual world through the unique perspective of cat’s-eye view—a humorous, playful take on this concept.

We’re excited to move forward by contributing innovative content and captivating elements to enhance the sport experience. Our vision for the 1.0 launch is a meticulously crafted game, replete with an abundance of engaging content that will delight players from start to finish.
Currently, Proper Now is available on Quest, with the studio planning simultaneous releases on Steam, PSVR2, and Pimax Professional in the future.
Despite prioritizing, the subsequent game is gaining momentum, and the studio continues refining its development alongside work on a mysterious new project.
While New Folder Games’ decision to consider two potential titles alongside an unannounced project remains under evaluation, it appears that the studio has brought its rapid prototyping process to a close.
At present, nearly everyone appears to be invested in the topic. Despite this, the studio suggests that there’s still a chance to divide into smaller teams and release nine additional titles within a year.
