The upcoming releases of Studio Zero’s and Bloober Team’s remakes are set to debut in consecutive weeks. The embargoes for both titles’ reviews remain unclear – reportedly October 4th for the latter, but undisclosed for the former – yet they’ve concurrently received their initial evaluations from Famitsu.
Achieved a score of 35 out of 40, requiring approximately 16-18 hours to complete, in line with the developer’s predicted average playtime. The game received widespread acclaim for its striking visual design, immersive environment, well-developed characters, and cleverly crafted puzzles. Meanwhile, I achieved a score of 37 out of 40, with critics praising it for being “virtually indistinguishable” from the original collection.
The vast majority of components, including the combat mechanics, visuals, and narrative delivery, received overwhelmingly positive feedback. It takes around 80 hours to finish the main game, with additional challenges requiring over 100 hours to complete. Director Katsura Hashino hinted at these challenges offering a “lot of enjoyable stuff,” which he hopes will encourage players to revisit and continue enjoying the game even after its conclusion.
Remake and relaunch on October 8th. The previously announced title is available on both PS5 and PC, while the more recent one will be released on PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
