The Undead Citadel, a medieval-era VR motion sport featuring physics-based combat, is slated to land on Quest later this year.
Developed by Darkish Curry, the survival-horror game Undead Citadel debuted in 2018 before its successful launch on Steam last year. With a plethora of story modes offering more than 10 distinct settings, the narrative delves into the mysterious origins of this devastating plague, inviting players to immerse themselves in richly interactive environments replete with tens of formidable foes and brain-teasing puzzles to solve. Across diverse platforms, Horde Mode offers a multitude of options tied to distinct leaderboards, grading performance on metrics including ratings, decapitation counts, and more.
As the protagonist faces a daunting challenge, they must navigate a treacherous landscape to reach the citadel, where their very survival hangs precariously in the balance? “In a desperate bid to vanquish the relentless undead threat to their very survival, driven by an unyielding passion and unrelenting determination, they must boldly venture into the foreboding unknown.”
Victory hinges on meticulous examination of enemy vulnerabilities, as well as mastery of over 60 distinct hand-to-hand combat tools, including swords, axes, battlehammers, two-handed weapons, and maces. Players have the option to select ranged weaponry such as bows, arrows, and explosives; once unlocked, these weapons can be practiced in the expansive sandbox environment of the Armory Mode.
The Undead Citadel is now available to play on PC VR and Pico platforms, with a planned release on the Meta Quest platform this autumn. The PlayStation VR2 may see improvements, with Darkish Curry hinting that additional details will be revealed “soon.”
