The highly anticipated game has been generating significant buzz over recent months, culminating in a thrilling launch date announcement at Gamescom, where NetEase Games confirmed that the free-to-play shooter will make its debut in December. Although the sport is set to debut on PC and current-generation consoles, there appears to be no indication that NetEase plans to expand its release to other platforms anytime soon.
According to Recreation Director Thaddeus Sasser’s statement to Pocket Techniques at Gamescom, no discussions are currently underway at NetEase regarding a potential release of the game on mobile devices or the Nintendo Switch.
It’s no surprise this outcome emerged. Given that a cell launch of a game typically necessitates a dedicated and custom-built version for both iOS and Android platforms, similar to what other console-based multiplayer games have done when transitioning to mobile.
Given the Swap’s aging hardware and notable disparity in capabilities compared to current-generation consoles, it appears logical for NetEase to focus on launching a title for Nintendo’s forthcoming next-generation console instead. Apparently, that’s something the corporation will likely consider further in the long run.
Now available for a December 6th launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
