There is a chapter referred to as The Outdated Nation; it takes place in Sicily, Italy, in 1943. Despite this fact, the vast majority of the Mafia video game series are set in fictionalized representations of iconic American cities, allowing players to immerse themselves in a nostalgic portrayal of 1930s-50s Americana.
According to an official announcement by 2K Games, the game’s narrative delves into the origins of organized crime during the early 20th century. “Fighting to survive in a treacherous era, where life hangs precariously in the balance due to the unflinching realism and masterful storytelling that have earned the Mafia franchise its critical acclaim.”
The flagship sport of the franchise was introduced in 2002 by Phantasm Softworks, acquired by Visual Concepts in 2010 from 2K Czech, and subsequently purchased by Hangar 13 in 2016. A plethora of growth packs, cellular spin-offs, and remastered editions has emerged. Hangar 13 recently released a remake of the classic sport, set in the fictional town of Lost Heaven, Illinois, during the 1930s. According to an official announcement by 2K Games, the beloved Mafia franchise has collectively sold more than 34 million copies across consoles and PCs.
The highly anticipated title is set to launch in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Windows PCs via Steam, and Xbox Series X. The possibility of extra information being revealed in December 2024 remains uncertain.
