A pulse-pounding trailer has just been released by Guerrilla Games and Studio Gobo, showcasing Aloy’s thrilling battle against a ferocious Thunderjaw in their latest installment. Despite initial reservations, the evening quickly takes a turn for the unexpected as she breaks into song, belting out the catchy tune “Tubthumper” by 90s icons Chumbawamba. The trailer’s subtlety notwithstanding, it’s clear that this spinoff has a gentler tone compared to the main series’ typical intensity. While primarily grounded in its narrative roots, this iteration of the franchise surprisingly pivots away from the gritty tone, instead injecting a healthy dose of humor as Aloy embarks on a poignant journey to uncover the truth about her mother’s fate within the ravaged post-apocalyptic landscape. While the gameplay avoids descending entirely into collectible-focused territory, similar to other titles, it does incorporate a complementary cooperative element.
Out on November 14th for PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5, it has reached gold status nearly a month prior in late October.
