Into Black’s developer detailed its upcoming PlayStation VR2 port, which it says will deliver a “full visible overhaul” in comparison with Quest.
The motion/exploration VR sport, which we likened to Deep Rock Galactic, launched on Meta Quest headsets again in October. In our hands-on impressions, we described it as “a real sci-fi journey popping out the door with participating gameplay mechanics and a serviceable story that may be loved alone or in co-op”.
Developer The Binary Mill confirmed it could port Into Black to PlayStation VR2 again in January. Now, the developer goes into element about how this port will differ from the Quest model.
“By utilising the facility of the PS VR2 {hardware}, we’ve been in a position to reshape the world of Into Black into one thing actually subsequent degree,” the studio explains.
One enhancement will likely be real-time shadows, together with shadows forged by your torch and the torches of your co-op teammates.
Into Black can even make the most of PlayStation VR2’s HDR shows, with HDR lighting and “volumetric results”.
However the enhancements go far past simply lighting. The Binary Mill says it rebuilt the cave environments with “a lot larger geometric density”, in addition to rising the decision of the textures and element maps.
To make caves really feel extra alive, the PS VR2 model can even have “dramatically” elevated natural world in caves.
“Mix all this with larger decision, eye-tracked foveation, and a easy 90Hz refresh charge, and you’ve got the cleanest, most putting model of Into Black but,” The Binary Mill teases.
The visuals aren’t the one side of Into Black getting enhanced for PlayStation VR2. The sport will help PS VR2’s head rumble and the PS VR2 Sense controllers’ adaptive triggers for improved haptic suggestions.
“Really feel the affect of each pickaxe swing, and the kick of the shotgun blast. Get rocked by a swipe from a colossal rock golem, or by the errant throw of a buddy’s grenade.”
There is no set date for Into Black arriving on PlayStation VR2, however now you can wishlist it on the PlayStation Retailer.
