MachineGames, the developer behind the forthcoming action-adventure game, has repeatedly hinted that their upcoming release will be a significant departure from its predecessors, featuring sprawling open spaces that invite players to explore and discover hidden secrets throughout an otherwise linear narrative. In an interview with PC Gamer, the developer provided further insight into what players can expect from the game in terms of this aspect.
According to design director Jens Andersson, the game will incorporate immersive simulation elements into its open spaces, offering players diverse options and pathways to achieve objectives, such as navigating through an enemy camp undetected.
“There are also expansive open areas, reminiscent of those found in immersive sim-style games, such as an enemy camp where players are supposed to infiltrate the main building, navigate its layout, and uncover hidden secrets.”
Interestingly, these unstructured spaces will also serve as functional social simulation areas. According to Andersson, the open spaces within could conceal numerous disguises for gamers to discover, each one granting easier access to previously inaccessible areas.
“With every massive location, you’ll find a multitude of disguises to discover and uncover.” “As someone who belongs there, this enables you to navigate spaces that would otherwise be incredibly challenging to access.”
With the place fight’s focus shifting towards intense, close-quarters combat, it’s intriguing that the developers of the series have opted for a first-person perspective in this latest installment. Discover more about that topic by clicking here.
The highly anticipated game is set to launch on December 9th for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a subsequent release planned for PlayStation 5 in the spring of 2025.
