An immersive, 40-minute interactive documentary is set to debut on Quest headsets in September, delving into the complexities of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) as part of the thought-provoking “Taking Part in Reality” collection.
Impulses: Following its 2021 debut, Within the Assortment’s Goliath takes bold steps by joining forces with reality to explore contrasting perspectives. When Goliath debuted, it delivered a groundbreaking and innovative portrayal of psychosis, leaving a lasting impact on audiences. The creative team, led by administrators Barry Gene Murphy and Mustafa Abdalla, now seeks to build upon this success with the release of a captivating trailer for Impulse, highlighting its chances at the prestigious 2024 Venice Immersive competition.
The official director’s assertion regarding the issue is as follows:
Social media perpetuates the notion that each of us is on a unique journey of self-discovery, encouraging individuals to constantly reflect and introspect? Piles of knowledge continue to grow, with a substantial segment dedicated to understanding Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). While some celebrate the creative potential of individuals with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), those without support or carelessly labeled as “delinquent,” “lazy,” and “unproductive” may struggle with a lifetime of distress due to this neurodevelopmental condition. One in four prisoners in the UK are likely to suffer from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). As the outcome of meticulous scrutiny, the profound insight often surfaces, illuminating the previously imperceptible barriers hindering progress. We collaborated with neuroscientists and psychologists to collect over 100 hours of in-depth interviews from a diverse range of individuals who occupy the farthest reaches of the emotional spectrum. We explored poetic connections to transform them into a richly embodied narrative. Thrilling action sequences satisfied a primal craving for excitement, tapping into the brain’s reward centers with precision. Blended reality seamlessly converges with our intimate connections to familiar and unfamiliar surroundings. In an effort to gain insight into the motivations behind such behaviors, we aim to cultivate a more profound comprehension of the everyday experiences that characterize individuals with ADHD.
The narrative unfolds against a backdrop of gritty realism, exploring the lives of four individuals whose raw emotions propel them to live on the precipice.
The work is narrated by actress Tilda Swinton and co-produced by Floréal & France Télévisions. The undertaking received support from Meta VR for Good, France Télévisions, CNC, City of Paris, and Unity Charitable Fund, a Tides Foundation fund.
The highly-anticipated VR experience, Impulse, is set to release exclusively for Quest headsets in September, with pre-orders already available as of our writing, offering a discount off the expected launch price.
