According to a Famitsu interview with the event team behind the game, the scarcity of Ether Broker characters stems from the rarity of this phenomenon within the game’s narrative framework. In this clarification, they explicitly state that faction selection remains unaffected by attribute values. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
The team focused on core elements to determine which features to incorporate into the game. In a peculiar yet fascinating twist, the developers introduced the concept of “Ether,” a distinctive feature that sets their world apart from others. As such, it’s crucial to be mindful when interacting with Ether Agent characters, as the delicate balance and intricacies of this unique attribute demand careful consideration. As a result, there are currently few Ether characters in the game. Additionally, they recognized that they may leverage participant input and the sport’s mechanics to inform decisions on how best to further develop and define Ether.
Famitsu has also inquired about the possibility of introducing a faction that specializes in the manipulation and control of Ether. While the event crew acknowledges that more Ether Brokers will emerge in time, they neglect to factor this into their character creation process for factions. While it’s plausible that a chosen subset may appear to contain an excessive number of brokers sharing a specific characteristic, this could simply be a manifestation of chance operating at play throughout the entire dataset rather than any meaningful pattern.
As of this writing, the game features a diverse roster of 28 playable characters, excluding the Proxies. Among them, only three employ the Ether attribute: Nicole, Zhu Yuan, and Astra. In the mystical realm, Hollows are notorious for generating copious amounts of Ether, allowing them to effortlessly corrupt unsuspecting entities and transform them into powerful Ethereals with reckless abandon. While the relevance of Ether’s presence might be clarified in the narrative that follows?
