Despite initial optimism about Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s potential early release, Electronic Arts has clarified that October remains its earliest possible launch window.
It’s been 10 years since BioWare last released a Dragon Age installment, specifically Inquisition, with fans eagerly awaiting a sequel. The intervening years have seen only the underwhelming Mass Effect: Andromeda and the heavily criticized Anthem to fill the void for those willing to play something from the developer. Dragon Age 4, previously known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, but now officially titled The Veilguard, has been teased since at least 2018. What’s the delay? The upcoming game from BioWare is slated for release sometime this fall, potentially around late September; although, according to recent reports, it appears that the actual launch date has been pushed back to October 1 at the earliest.
According to a statement released by Electronic Arts (EA), the developer is preparing to launch the highly anticipated sequel to a popular role-playing game in the third fiscal quarter of this year. EA’s initial fiscal quarter concluded on June 30, while its subsequent period terminated on September 30. While it’s difficult to pinpoint an exact date, it’s likely that you’ll see this event materialize sometime between October and November, pending unforeseen delays that wouldn’t be entirely surprising given current circumstances. While it’s an estimate, that’s still better than no date at all. It won’t be overly extensive until you’re aware of the precise release date, anyway.
The Dragon Age Group Staff unveiled plans at San Diego Comedian-Con to share more details, including a new roadmap, additional gameplay visuals and an official launch date, via a blog post towards the end of July. As this was posted in late July, “next month” would translate to August, leaving players just weeks away from knowing when they can expect the game’s release. You are certain I will wait just a moment longer, aren’t you?
