In February 2024, developer Hoyoverse unveiled the highly anticipated 2.0 update for Honkai Impact, a renowned mobile game that has captured the hearts of millions worldwide. This major overhaul brought with it the exciting addition of the Penacony world, further enriching the game’s vast universe and gameplay experiences. Since its inception, the sport has predominantly focused on thrilling excursions that unfold within the fantastical realm of a dreamworld. Nonetheless, that’s about to alter. HoYoonverse officially announced that the upcoming 2.7 update would mark the final patch before players embark on their last journey to the new world, Amphoreus, in the Astral Realm. As part of the 2.7 livestream programme, a tantalizing teaser trailer premiered on Friday, offering a first glimpse into this immersive world, while confirming that it draws inspiration from ancient Greek mythology.
While the teaser trailer eschewed gameplay, it instead wove a mythical narrative exploring the origins of Amphoreus, accompanied by artistry reminiscent of ancient Athenian vase work. The narrative commences with a reflection on the origins of the world, depicting it as a realm of primal disorder. Yet, this tumultuous state was ultimately transformed by the divine forces that kindled the “Coreflames,” thereby birthing the Titans. As the narrative unfolds, we’re introduced to an array of intriguing characters, including a mystifying “three-faced messenger” who navigates through a labyrinth of doorways, as well as the enigmatic daughter of the River Styx. The trailer also offers a glimpse into Herta’s comeback, featuring her newly upgraded 5-star variant.
Before the 3.0 update’s storyline unfolds around Amphoreus, it’s easy to get ahead of ourselves, but there’s just one final hurdle to clear first. It’s hardly as though nothing significant is at stake in 2.7. The upcoming patch will finally bring back the notorious and enigmatic leader of Penacony, Sunday.
