The action-packed game was originally set to arrive on the PlayStation VR2 platform in a mere month’s time; however, developer IO Interactive has since announced that the title will be delayed until March 27th, 2025.
“This determination to adjust the discharge date wasn’t taken lightly; as everyone is aware, there’s considerable demand to bring Hitman 3 to PS VR2, and we’re thrilled by the positive response to our announcement.”
“As a result, we remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering exceptional expertise that consistently exceeds the high expectations of our players.”
The studio is making the most of the extra time to refine the game and introduce “a few select enhancements” for the PSVR 2 edition, which now boasts guided reloading in addition to previously announced features such as dual-wielding, full ambidexterity, and a functional sniper scope – poised to be a substantial upgrade over its PS4 counterpart for the original PSVR.
The upcoming PSVR 2 iteration is poised to introduce an innovative “physics-based method” for donning disguises, allowing players to grasp and utilize disguises in a more immersive, hands-on manner rather than simply pressing a button.
This stands in stark contrast to the PS4 version’s VR-enabled sport, which synchronizes all movement and object interactions with DualShock 4 controllers, lacking the familiar control scheme gamers expect from its other VR-supported iterations, such as the PC VR-compatible model or the poorly received port for Quest 3 and 3S.
Priced at $10/€10/£9, PSVR 2 Assist won’t be a free replacement for the original VR headset on PlayStation 5; instead, it will be offered as a low-cost upgrade pack, set to launch on March 27th, 2025.
