Squanch Games’ new title, Excessive on Life, takes a cue from its animated series counterpart, with the voice actor behind one of its speaking weapons also stepping in as producer.
According to a report from Deadline, JB Smoove, known for his role on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, has been tapped to voice an animated film based on the 2022 action-comedy game Excessive On Life. Smoove’s latest venture, Alternate Aspect Productions, is poised to collaborate with indie game studio Squanch Games, as well as Striker Entertainment, on the upcoming project. Although he hasn’t been officially cast yet, insiders suggest a strong probability that he will be. Russell Binder and Mandy Bardishanian of Striker Leisure will also executive produce the series alongside them.
Smoove stated in a press release: “When Squanch Games approached me about voicing a character in their extraordinary game Excessive On Life, I asked immediately: What’s the look of my character?” They suggested that my inclination could resemble a fish that shoots…which resonates with me. Can’t we all just get along? I imply proper?!
As I embark on this new partnership with Squanch Video games and Striker Leisure, bringing Excessive On Life’s non-stop humor to life feels like a natural progression. I’m thrilled they asked me to bridge their characters with the gaming universe, allowing me to facilitate their transition into the world of television. A celebration of shared passion! Excessive on Life is a wildly unpredictable ride, blending bizarre humor with addictive gameplay – and this new collection promises to amplify the excitement even further. Let’s embark on a laughter-filled adventure together, surrounded by memorable personalities that mirror our own quirks and charms! “We’re cleared for takeoff, engines running hot!”
While some reliable performers may be willing to lend their voices to the series once more, it’s uncertain whether a particular standout will be on board. In 2023, reports surfaced indicating that Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland had been arrested and charged with felony home battery and false imprisonment in 2020; this revelation sparked a flurry of subsequent allegations of abuse levelled against the actor. As a result of this controversy, Dan Harmon was forced to leave the show he is most famous for co-creating, Rick and Morty, in both his roles as writer and voice actor, and he also stepped down from his position at Squanch Games.
