In a groundbreaking move, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has introduced the game’s inaugural drivable vehicle with the release of the Omens of Tyranny update, allowing players to take control of a motorized marvel for the very first time. The Mitsubishi Outlander Reborn Vehicle (FRV), initially designed as a rugged off-road capable Jeep, had its true potential unleashed by enthusiasts through modifications. One’s made the impressive decision to swap out their ride for Axel’s legendary cab from Loopy Taxi.
Regardless of the circumstances, how can one possibly navigate at a purported speed of 5 million miles per hour, safely transporting teammates to engage with The Illuminate’s targets, when the vehicle is literally designed for a 1990s punk song – a mere 90-mile-per-hour jaunt from point A to point B?
Here’s a modder’s latest endeavour: ‘Loopy Taxi Cab (FRV)’ from McMessenger, whose evident fondness for the classic SEGA game has led to a striking transformation – replacing the FRV with Axel’s iconic Cadillac physique. The extraterrestrial landscape’s rugged terrain demands an equally robust vehicle, which is why this FRV taxi inherits the original’s elevated suspension system. It comes in a dual configuration: one model features a visible mounted machine gun for added security, while the other version omits it for those who prefer a more streamlined approach.
“After witnessing reckless gameplay of the Quick Recon Vehicle in the game following the Illuminate update’s release, I drew inspiration from an old favorite arcade game and decided to create this mod.”
The phrases do not entirely live up to the creativity that inspired them, but fortunately, they have curated a visually stunning showcase video that does justice to their innovative concepts. As they hurtle through the streets at breakneck speed, the taxi’s driver unleashes his inner daredevil, executing daring stunts behind the wheel while navigating treacherous courses and dodging hordes of pedestrians, who gaze in awe as their fellow thrill-seekers cling to their seats for dear life. Additional nods to Loopy Taxi’s essence are cleverly woven throughout, including the “Press Begin Button” flashing on screen during each fare and the end card displaying John Helldiver’s cumulative earnings from all those fares?
As you walk through the doors of the iconic venue, The Offspring’s energetic beats fill the air, with “All I Need” playing continuously throughout your entire experience, much as expected from this legendary spot. Here’s a sleeker version: This isn’t the primary Helldivers 2 FRV mod I’ve encountered – another variant swaps it out for Wreckfest’s BMW M3 GTR, but this one might just be the best.
