Since Arrowhead, the developer behind Helldivers 2, has released the first installment of its Killzone crossover with the game, the resulting price tag is sparking intense criticism among gamers. Following their efforts to respond to disheartened gamers, the studio has decided to offer the additional gear that comes with the collaboration at no extra cost.
Gamers have voiced significant frustration over the high cost of the new assault rifle and armor set in Killzone, specifically the fact that they are not being offered as warbonds and the individual charges are substantial, sparking concern among players.
Following CEO Shams Jorjani and Johan Pilestedt’s efforts to explain their decision to create a crossover series on social media, the studio has released a statement aimed at restoring trust among gamers after the backlash over high prices. To celebrate the holiday season, we’re delighted to give the long-awaited second part of our collaborative project away for free to everyone, effective immediately.
We’ve been monitoring the response to our first crossover offering, and survey feedback from our community indicates that crossover content is overwhelmingly high on your wishlists, Arrowhead acknowledged in a Steam post outlining these findings. However, some users remain dissatisfied with the prices of certain items, prompting us to revisit this aspect.
“A significant number of you expressed concerns about ensuring objects remained in rotation long enough, as well as uncertainty surrounding their existence outside of our regular Warbond releases, which always tie into our own universe.”
The decision has been made to distribute the second wave of drugs at no cost to all players, with this drop set to unfold in two stages, alongside an extension of the time period for existing items within Superstore, which will now be available from 5 days to 10 days, alleviating FOMO concerns for busy gamers grinding Super Credit to secure other Killzone bits.
“We’re also exploring possibilities for transporting these assets efficiently and safely at a future date,” the studio noted, “The W.A.S.P.” Stratagem will soon be available for your collective unlocking through a notable purchase.
There you go. While Arrowhead’s efforts are commendable, the true challenge lies in finding a harmonious balance of values that resonates with both it and Helldivers 2 players – a feat that requires dedication to understanding their unique needs and preferences? Despite everything, it’s the season for giving.
