Arc System Works inadvertently unveiled the surprises in store for Guilty Gear Strive’s fourth season, Responsibility Gear Try, within a jam-packed trailer that overflowed with revelations.
For three years, you’ve been eagerly anticipating the moment when Dizzy’s time would finally come. And now, it’s here: this beloved character is set to become the first playable character in Responsible Gear Try as part of its fourth season – or so fans thought after discovering a trailer hidden away on YouTube, albeit briefly before being taken down and made private. Meet Queen Dizzy, reborn with an audacious new majesty, set to captivate lore enthusiasts worldwide as her eagerly anticipated release arrives in October. Unlike previous seasons’ cross-reveals, Arc System Works took a different approach, unveiling the entire roster of characters instead of just one. The subsequent reveals are likely to elicit an enthusiastic “hell yeah!” from fans. Okay cool! Sorry, what was said?
After Dizzy’s departure, Venom emerges with a fresh, exceptional appearance, poised to rejoin the sport by early 2025.
Introduced without fanfare, the third character is Unika, a model newcomer familiar to fans of the upcoming anime series Twin Riders, where she will be featured prominently as part of the Responsible Gear Try franchise. Although there’s no official announcement regarding the anime’s release date, given that the original manga is scheduled for a 2025 debut, it’s reasonable to expect the anime adaptation will follow suit around the same time. The fourth and final character will mark the Collection’s inaugural visitor location, where Lucy from the anime adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, will be its sole guest.
While it’s unusual to find anime-inspired attractions at a visitor centre, the concept does pique my curiosity. Does this eccentric addition enhance the overall experience or detract from it? I suppose? It’s challenging to form a genuine opinion without witnessing actual gameplay; I’ll reserve judgment until then, when all character reveals have been showcased and their capabilities can be properly assessed.
The trailer also showcased several updates, including the highly anticipated reveal that Marvel vs. Capcom’s Team of Three mode is set to arrive as part of Season 4, a welcome addition for those seeking fresh gameplay options in the popular fighter. New colorways were unveiled for each character, while additional stages were also previewed, but the real showstopper remained the characters themselves.
