Incuvio’s highly anticipated virtual reality adaptation of the beloved open-world survival game is finally receiving its long-awaited co-op mode this month on Quest and PSVR 2.
The highly anticipated co-op mode, initially unveiled in April 2023, is finally making its debut on December 16th as a free update for homeowners of the game on PSVR 2, Quest 2, 3, and 3S.
Here: The cooperative version builds upon the game’s challenging solo experience by allowing groups of up to four players to team up, wielding melee or ranged weapons as they scavenge for sustenance or defend each other against the deadly predators lurking in the jungle, while constructing shelters to mitigate environmental threats. Gamers seeking therapy will have a visual representation of their emotional state, allowing others to spot “leeches” – those who need to be removed from the group’s dynamic.
Regrettably, the cooperative replacement does not support seamless cross-platform play across all platforms, including PC-to-VR and Quest-to-PSVR 2 gameplay experiences. According to a statement released by the studio, the development team was focused on delivering a multiplayer update. While enabling cross-play would undoubtedly prolong the duration of this course. I’ll admit to keeping this information in mind, though.
“The introduction of co-op to Meta Quest and PSVR2 is crucial to our virtual reality community, as it’s long been anticipated by fans who have eagerly awaited this feature since its initial release on these platforms.” Notwithstanding, we ensured that the experience met or exceeded the expectations of a comprehensive, cooperative survival adventure, according to Incuvo CEO Andrzej Wychowaniec.
The studio remains mum on the fate of co-op mode for its SteamVR model, despite slim chances; since its PC VR launch on Steam, the title has largely stagnated, with the last update arriving in late 2022 as the developer focused on releasing ‘Spirits of Amazonia Half I’ expansions on Quest and PSVR 2.
