Rockstar Games’ latest installment is still pending, with a scheduled release for next year on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. While there’s been no official confirmation from Rockstar or Take-Two Interactive regarding a delay, whispers have emerged suggesting that the highly anticipated open-world title might be pushed back to 2026 internally.
According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, following an inquiry on Twitter, he consulted with six Rockstar staff members, none of whom were aware of any delay in the development process. After all, there’s a caveat. This statement will effectively capture the essence of a thrilling experience. There’s too much time lingering to formulate a decisive statement.
It’s entirely possible that studio executives could have made such a decision without anyone being informed. Schreier dismissing the latest rumor as “nonsense” until Rockstar Games makes an official announcement about Red Dead Redemption’s release date, which is still expected to arrive in fall 2025 if no formal delay is announced.
With no hint of doubt, Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two’s CEO, had previously stated that both the developer and parent company were “extremely confident” in the game’s current release schedule. Will PC gamers need to wait longer? Click here for more information.
Rumors swirled across the web and social media channels this weekend, with whispers circulating about a potential delay in the highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI. I was assured by six Rockstar staff members that there are no delays to report, as far as their knowledge goes. What’s touted as a massive game may indeed prove a thrilling experience, but beware – it can easily slide into chaos. Time stretches out before me, a canvas waiting for brushstrokes of insight, yet words remain elusive, taunting me with their silence.

Six employees explicitly stated that they were unaware of the impending delay. It is possible that Rockstar’s government contacts may have advised them to postpone the release of GTA VI at some point in the past without informing the company directly. The rumors about a potential acquisition were unfounded.
