Following the runaway success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Netflix and CD Projekt have announced a new animated venture as part of their Geeked Week celebration, hinting at another exciting addition to the Cyberpunk 2077 franchise.
The status of the project remains uncertain, but we do know it’s being touted as a “return to Night City,” suggesting at least a nod to the familiar tone of the original. Whatever the final product holds, expect some level of familiarity, possibly even a swanky neon sign or two.
The teaser that preceded its introduction was compromised during a Geeked broadcast due to suspected hacking – a la Cyberpunk – featuring a rapid-fire sequence of flashing slides displaying logos from Netflix, CD Projekt, and Cyberpunk, punctuated by brief glimpses of the Night City narrative I previously discussed.

Despite lacking any affinity with the acclaimed Cyberpunk Edgerunners, the narrative doesn’t appear to have been conceived as a precursor for subsequent installments, given its self-contained nature and lack of inherent sequel potential. While CD Projekt hasn’t ruled out the possibility of exploring such an option, there is certainly appetite among fans for it.
In truth, the studio has been fairly rattling coy about your complete factor, with joint CEO Michał Nowakowski having stated throughout an earnings name that accompanied CD’s newest financials final month: “We’re positively planning on doing extra by way of animation with Cyberpunk so I hope that is sufficient as a solution.”
As fans eagerly scroll through Reddit, many seem convinced that finding something comparable to the latest offering from Edgerunners will be a daunting task, given the high bar set by its predecessor. I’m going to take something. One enthusiastic fan remarks: “Tales from the early corporate wars can be wonderful, hell, I’ll even watch it if it’s about the daily life of Delamain.”
