The VR extraction shooter, developed by Fight Waffle Studios and written by Past Frames, has seen a significant surge in revenue, doubling to $20 million following its debut on the main Horizon Retailer in February 2024.
The sport’s initial major milestone was achieved earlier this year, with the studio announcing that it had surpassed $10 million in revenue within less than a year on App Lab and Steam Early Access.
Meta Join currently boasts a community of 835,000 registered players and exceeds 160,000 monthly active users, with players dedicating an average of 120 minutes to each gaming session.
Accessible across SteamVR, Pico headsets, and recently Quest, the platform’s popularity likely owes much to its successful debut on Meta’s pioneering VR device. Notably, the sports game is slated for a release on PSVR 2 later this year, expanding its virtual reality capabilities.
CEO Scott Albright credits the credit group’s suggestions throughout his early entry into the sport.
Albright credits App Lab’s contribution to their achievement in developing Ghosts of Tabor, stating its pivotal role in their success. By granting early access to our alpha build, we were able to gather valuable insights from the gaming community, harmonizing technical requirements with players’ top concerns to deliver an optimal experience. While the App Lab ecosystem was poised for retirement last year, its legacy endures with the early entry label on Meta Horizon Retailer – a tag that will accompany our next two titles, GRIM and Silent North, as we distill all the best takeaways before their broader releases.
On September 25th, we will be hearing more from Albright as he presents ‘From Idea to Neighborhood Phenomenon – The Success Story of Ghosts of Tabor’, delving into the key steps the studio took over the past few years.
Moreover, Fight Waffle reveals its strategy for early entry into the market with forthcoming game releases.
