As SatoSugi followers eagerly await their cinematic escapade – and potentially an intercontinental flight – the news has emerged that Jujutsu Kaisen’s thrilling Hidden Stock arc will be condensed into a spine-tingling compilation film.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season, with certain episodes standing out more than others; however, its opening arc, “Hidden Inventor” and “Untimely Death”, is undoubtedly the highlight. The slice-of-life tone seamlessly transitions into a stunningly crafted five-part narrative, with each episode standing independently while collectively forming a poignant and emotionally shattering whole. Sufficiently diverse individuals share equivalent sentiments, as the anime’s official Twitter account recently announced that the brief arc is being transformed into a compilation film, with a planned release date sometime in 2025.
Alas, it appears that all key points currently available are limited in scope, but as a temporary solution, viewers could revisit Jujutsu Kaisen’s “Hidden Stock” to address their unfulfilled Gojo-Geto plot demands until more substantial content emerges. While compilation films are not uncommon for short-form anime series, particularly those with limited episode counts, the Shibuya Incident arc’s considerable length in Season 2 makes it an attractive candidate for a cinematic adaptation. While some films may feature updated scenes or refined animation, I’m not expecting consistency in this regard, as this is not a universal trait among movies. With no indication regarding international releases, fans may need to consider budgeting for travel expenses in order to catch last year’s most anticipated anime film on the big screen outside of Japan.
While details remain scarce, the confirmation of production for Season 3 provides a clear indication that efforts are underway to fill the existing narrative gap left by the conclusion of Season 2. The highly anticipated conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen is finally within sight, with only four chapters remaining as of the latest confirmation; the conclusive chapter set for release on September 30. Let’s hope for a genuinely uplifting conclusion in Jujutsu Kaisen, though it would be challenging to reach the heights of pure elation given the series’ dark tone.
